How to Prepare a PDF for Online Notarization
A clean PDF helps remote online notarization go faster. Most delays come from unreadable scans, wrong page order, or missing pages. Here's a simple checklist to prepare your document before you upload it.
1) Use a clear scan or high-quality photo
- Make sure text is readable (no blur, no motion).
- Avoid glare and reflections (especially on IDs).
- Include the full page - do not crop off corners.
2) Combine pages into one PDF
If your document has multiple pages, combine them into a single PDF in the correct order. This prevents missing pages and keeps notarization consistent.
Tip: Put signature pages and ID-related pages in the correct order. Double-check before upload.
3) Don't pre-sign unless instructed
Some documents require the signer to sign in front of a notary. If you're unsure, leave signature fields blank and add a note in the submission.
4) Keep file size reasonable
- If your PDF is too large, compress it before uploading.
- Remove duplicate pages or blank pages if not needed.
